I’m looking for advice on gout pain. I do not want to take a prescription. Anything to use to stop reocurrance

Gout is caused by too much uric acid in the blood (hyperuricemia). Hyperuricemia usually does no harm, and most people with high levels of uric acid in the blood never develop gout. When uric acid levels in the blood are too high, uric acid may form crystals that accumulate in the joints. The exact cause of hyperuricemia sometimes goes undiscovered, although inherited factors (genes) seem to play a role. Gout can seem to flare up without specific cause or can be brought on by factors such as being overweight, eating meats and seafood that are high in chemicals called purines, taking certain medications (especially aspirin and diuretics), and drinking too much alcohol.

My own father and aunt have suffered with gout. This is often a forerunner to diabetes. Here are a few things you can do to prevent an "attack" of gout.

1)Ease up on red meat. NEVER eat rare meat. Purines are contained in Beef,Pork,Lamb,Seafood,
Yeast (used in beer and bread),Alcoholic beverages, particularly beer, and Bacon.

2) Drink lots of water. If you were drinking enough water your kidneys would filter the uric acid.

3) Drink low fat milk. This will help "eat" the uric acid from your blood.

Now the next issue is don’t be silly about popping a pill. This drives doctors and pharmacists CRAZY! Have you ever heard of better living through modern chemistry? If fact, there is an amazing new drug to treat Gout; Febuxostat. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about it. This is the first new treatment for Gout in 40 years.

Below I have included a link about the new treatment from TAP Pharmaceutical Products Inc.
