Get Rid Of Gout Pain In The Foot In 2 Easy Steps

Here are 2 easy ways to get rid of gout pain in your foot. Many gout sufferers are turning to natural remedies for gout pain in the foot. You’ll discover 2 of the most effective here.

(1) HOT / COLD COMPRESS OR SOAK

By applying alternating hot and cold compresses, or, hot and cold soaks, you can relieve inflammation and pain. Timing should be 3 minutes hot followed by 30 seconds cold. This process aids circulation and helps to reduce inflammation and pain.

(2) BICARBONATE OF SODA DRINK

Also known as baking soda, this home remedy to get rid of gout pain in the foot works in 2 ways (1) by helping to dissolve the uric acid crystals that cause your gout, and, (2) by making uric acid more soluble to aid in it’s excretion from your body.

Just add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to an 8 oz glass of water and mix thoroughly. Drink one glass before bedtime, one first thing when you get up in the morning, and one every 2 to 4 hours between meals. Never exceed 4 teaspoons of baking soda per day. Stop when the symptoms disappear.

And, because it is high in sodium, cut salt from your diet while you are taking it. Also, if you suffer from high blood pressure don’t use this remedy. As always, consult your doctor first.

These two home remedies can be very effective in getting rid of gout pain in the foot, and, eliminating the symptoms. But you need to do more…

Recurring gout attacks can lead to permanent joint damage and things like agonizing kidney stones. Plus, after having suffered one attack of gout, you are highly likely to suffer more.

Therefore, as well as addressing the symptoms of your current gout attack, you need to do more to prevent gout attacks in the future.

How to Manage Gout Pain During the Holiday Season

The holidays are some of the most enjoyable time of the year. We reconnect with distant relatives and make new friends. We enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere a t the office and at home we usually find time to slow-down and reflect upon all of the events of the previous year.

We also get an opportunity to attend numerous holiday parties. Many of these events have great tasting food and drink. However, with all of these temptations we need to remember that a change in diet can cause a painful gout attack. So it makes sense to understand what types of food should be avoided to help manage gout during the holidays.

Managing gout is a year-round concern for the millions who have experience the painful deposits of needle-like crystals of uric acid that build up in joint space and connective tissue. These deposits can lead to swelling, heat, redness and arthritis. The proverbial swollen toe often characterizes a gout attack.

What causes gout and how can it be managed and prevented?
Gout is typically brought on by the inability of the body to eliminate excess uric acid. Uric acid is a result of the breakdown of purines. Purines are naturally found in the body and in many types of food. So with the temptation of party trays overflowing with food of every type, read on to learn how to manage gout pain during the holidays.
It is typically suggested that people with gout reduce their intake of high-purine foods. Here is a brief list of high-purine foods, foods in moderation and low-purine foods for your review. Although this is not an all-inclusive list, it can provide some insight into healthy eating during the holiday season:

High-purine foods: (foods that should be avoided for low-purine diets)

Alcohol, including beer
Seafood, including anchovies, herring, trout, mussels, scallops and ocean perch
Coffee, tea, cola drinks
Lamb, sausage, game meat

Foods in moderation: (foods that should consumed in moderation for low-purine diets)

Mushrooms, asparagus, cabbage, dried beans, artichokes, peas
Peanuts, soy and soy products (tofu and soy sauce)
Brown rice, whole wheat, malt, whole grain cereal

Low-purine foods (foods lowest in purines for low-purine diets)

Tart cherries, fruits, berries
Carrots, celery, eggplant, lettuce, radishes, tomatoes, potatoes
Non-caffeine sodas
Cottage cheese, yogurt, dairy (fat free or low fat)

In addition to eating in moderation and maintaining a healthy and balanced diet during the holidays, many are searching for natural ways to manage gout year-round. Several low purine cookbooks are available with dozens of great tasting low-purine recipes.

Highly concentrated food products are another excellent way to manage gout pain all year long. For example, tart cherries supplements and cherry juice concentrate are an ideal way to manage gout attacks.

Research on tart cherries indicate the natural antioxidants contained in this tiny red fruit can help dissolve the painful crystals that form in the joints. One outstanding product that delivers a highly concentrated dose of tart cherries is Fruit Advantage Tart Cherry supplements.

If you are interested in managing gout pain year-round with natural solutions consider a drinking plenty of water, eating a healthy and well-balanced diet, drinking cherry juice concentrate and using Fruit Advantage Tart Cherry capsules.

Got Gout? – Avoid Foods High In Uric Acid

It has been shown, through research, that foods high in uric acid (purines) have contributed to the chance of developing gout or aggravating the symptoms if you already have the disease. Gout can be easy to manage if you are willing to make some considerable changes and sacrifices in your diet. This means avoiding foods high in uric acid. A healthy lifestyle along with these diet changes will help to control your gout (if you already have it) or prevent the disease (if you are at high risk).

Gout is caused by a condition known as hyperuricemia. This simply means that there is too much uric acid in the bloodstream. The disease is more common in men; however, it can also attack women. Uric acid is a waste product that is left over after the metabolism of purines and is also found in alcohol (particularly beer) and some foods.

In order to reduce the levels, a change in diet is necessary. Foods that contain high levels will need to be omitted or the very least, reduced. It is the job of the kidney to eliminate them from the body. Low amounts of purines in the diet are normally not a concern. It is when foods and alcohol high in purines are consumed in excess that the problems begin. Some people will never get the disease even though they may have high levels of uric acid in their bloodstream.

Then there are those with high levels that are more susceptible to build up. This is when crystals will form in the body and attach themselves to joints and this is what causes the pain of gout. In order to treat the disease, the idea is to relieve the chronic pain that is associated with gout and to do what is necessary to prevent attacks.

It is important that gout is diagnosed and treated before it is able to destroy the joints and lead to other long-term problems such as kidney damage. Diets low in purines can reduce uric acid build up and at the same time can assist in weight loss. Lower levels can also be attributed to weight loss.

Meats, such as beef, pork and seafood contain purines that attribute to uric acid levels being high. Some white meats have purines and should be consumed in moderation, such as chicken, ham, and bacon. These are not as bad as red meats, but still need to be controlled.

Foods, such as breads and alcohol, that are made using yeast, should also be avoided. They can produce high uric acid levels. Drinking black cherry juice, in large quantities, has been associated with reducing these levels, therefore reducing the symptoms of gout.

Some natural anti-inflammatory that have been attributed to the reduction of the chronic inflammation of gout sufferers are celery seed extract and bromelain. If you are having a gout attack add eicosapentaenoic acid and folic acid to your diet. This will help with the inflammation. Those who suffer from gout symptoms have seen an improvement by simply eliminating foods high in uric acid.

If you are willing to make a change in your life-style and diet, you could be lowering your chances of getting a painful gout attack.

How to Get Rid of Soreness From Gout

Imagine this… In the middle of peaceful and cozy night, you are sleeping soundly in your warm bed. Suddenly! An unknown intense pain you feel at the toe or joint wakes you up and you are desperately looking for pills that can get rid of the pain immediately. Worse, if you are living alone you might need to creep towards the kitchen to get your pain killer. For some chronic attack, normal pain killer will not help much.

For those beginner gout patients who just begun to suffer from gout attack, doctors will usually prescribe some pain killer and advice tell the patients what food to avoid. If the condition does not seem to improve, then colchicines will be prescribed. Colchicine is the preferred treatment of acute gouty arthritis. It is a toxic natural extract from the seeds of a plant called meadow saffron or autumn crocus. Some possible side effects of colchicines therapy are vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea.

For some chronic gout patient when the pain killers and colchicine do not help much. The next treatment will be Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or commonly known as NSAIDs. NSAIDs are drugs with anti-inflammatory effects which suppresses the immune reactions caused by the urate crystals in the joints.

And if all of those fail, the last resort is the cortisone shot. Cortisone is a steroid hormone that is very effective in suppressing the immune system which helps to reduce inflammation, swelling and pain. It is the fastest relief for gout pain but it is also the one that gives the most severe side effects. Steroids do not take years to damage your system, permanent and crippling damages can occur within weeks after the treatment begun.

Do not use cold ice bag or soak your painful leg into the zero degree cold water! Yes, it is one good way to numb the nerves so that you cannot feel the torturing pain but this is just a temporary fix. Worse, lowered temperature at the joint will force more uric acid to crystallize and lay the foundation for a more severe gout attack in the future.

There is nothing such as the instant and natural cure for gout pain. You either get an instant gout relief with drugs or your go through a gradual natural way to remove the root of the problem. It took years for those urate crystals to form inside your joints, so do not expect them will go away in a month or two.

Arthritis Pain Relief! Weighing Over The Counter Medications And Supplements In The Treatment Of Osteoarthritis

Chronic arthritis pain isn’t something to ignore: not only can it affect your quality of life, it can also deplete your emotional stores (leading to anxiety and/or depression) and muscle fitness (leading to weakness or complete muscle breakdown).

But whether you suffer from osteoarthritis (“wear and tear” of the joints), rheumatoid arthritis (inflammation in the joints) or gout (excess uric acid that accumulate in the joints), relief from your arthritis pain is available. This article will discuss the pros and cons of over the counter (OTC) medications and supplements for osteoarthritis, focusing on managing arthritis pain and maintaining the ability to use the joint in question.

Arthritis Pain Relief: Acetaminophen

Of the drugs in our list of arthritis pain relievers, acetaminophen is widely accepted as the OTC with the least amount of undesirable side effects and the lowest long-term costs. However, acetaminophen does nothing to reduce inflammation associated with arthritis pain, normally can only treat mild to moderate cases of osteoarthritis and can easily become toxic if mixed with alcohol.

Arthritis Pain Relief: NSAIDs

NSAIDs help sufferers with both arthritis pain and inflammation and are quite inexpensive (like acetaminophen). However, long term usage has been shown to cause upset stomach and other, more serious side effects (such as skin rashes or speeding up the progression of osteoarthritis by interfering with cartilage repair and promoting cartilage destruction).

Arthritis Pain Relief: Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate

Combined together, glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are excellent supplements in the fight against arthritis pain: they are said to increase mobility, reduce osteoarthritis pain and form the building blocks for cartilage growth. However, those allergic to shellfish must avoid glucosamine at all costs (since it’s derived from the shells of shrimp, lobster and crab).

Arthritis Pain Relief: MSM

MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) has been studied extensively (for over twenty years) as an arthritis pain relieving supplement. By blocking pain transmitters in the affected nerve, MSM users find similar arthritis pain relief to acetaminophen, but without the potential liver toxicity. Some osteoarthritis sufferers have also noticed a reduction in inflammation of the joints also, since MSM reduces histamine levels (linked to allergy-related inflammation).

Arthritis Pain Relief: SAMe

SAMe (S-adenosyl-L-methionine) has been shown to reduce inflammation in osteoarthritis sufferers as much as NSAIDs. However, SAMe takes a longer time to see symptom reduction, but offers less gastrointestinal discomfort than NSAIDs in general. Arthritis pain sufferers should ensure enough B vitamins are ingested along with SAMe to feel the full effects, and expect slow but steady arthritis pain relief.

Arthritis Pain Relief: Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA)

Found in evening primrose and borage oils, GLA is an omega-6 fatty acid said to help lessen arthritis pain, stiffness and swelling. Few side effects have been recorded, however all omega-6′s are blood thinners and may increase the risk of bleeding if taken with NSAIDs.

As with all OTC supplements and drugs, check with your doctor first before starting any arthritis pain reducing regimen on your own. You may also want to monitor your liver and kidney function for most of the medications discussed above since almost all have a slight risk of side effects. Start with the lowest dosage possible to see how your body and your illness tolerate the item, and be patient: you’ll never be sure if a new supplement or medication is actually working if you don’t take adequate time to test.

Relief From Arthritis: A Who’s Who In Arthritis Treatment For Newly Diagnosed Patients

Newly diagnosed arthritis patients can easily become overwhelmed with the myriad of information, treatment options, help and professionals available to them, while still trying to find relief from their disease. In an effort to demystify who does what, this article will point out each of the people you’ll most likely be interacting with during your arthritis treatment and explain their role in helping you find relief from arthritis.

Arthritis Treatment Specialist: Acupuncturist

Considered foreign to most Americans, acupuncture has become a beacon in the arthritis treatment sphere. By placing small, sterile needles into very specific points on the body, acupuncture is said to relieve stress, increase endorphins and remove blockages that are pain-causing, thus providing relief from arthritis. For a list of fully trained osteopaths who are also acupuncturists, visit the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture for more information.

Arthritis Treatment Specialist: Chiropractor

Chiropractors are the hands-on, trained manipulators that actually realign the joints, muscles and tendons that may be out of whack. Although they are not medical doctors, chiropractors may refer their findings to your family doctor or rheumatologist for further investigation. The American Chiropractic Association can give you a better idea as to what exact these professionals can do to help you find relief from arthritis.

Arthritis Treatment Specialist: Massage Therapist (LMT, CMT)

Relief from arthritis isn’t only found in the bottom of a medicine bottle or at the hands of a surgeon; many arthritis treatment plans strongly suggest a massage therapist as an aide to reduce muscle tension or to increase one’s range of motion. However, not all massage therapists are trained the same: check with the American Massage Therapy Association for certified arthritis treatment specialists in your area.

Arthritis Treatment Specialist: Orthopaedic Surgeon (MD)

Specializing in the evaluation and treatment of the bones, joints and tissues, orthopedic surgeons usually work on a referral-based system from your family doctor. These types of doctors will determine whether or not your arthritis treatment will focus on surgery, non-surgical options or a combination thereof. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons can answer most of your general questions about surgical arthritis treatment options that can bring relief from arthritis symptoms.

Arthritis Treatment Specialist: Physical Therapist

Sometimes known as occupational therapists as well, physical therapists help with the daily management of the disease by showing patients practical, hands on tactics to find relief from arthritis. This can include heat/cold therapy, assistive techniques (different ways of doing the same thing so that there is less pain but with no reduction of mobility), introducing tools that can help with day-to-day living and exercises that increase flexibility and mobility. Contact the American Physical Therapy Association for more information.

Arthritis Treatment Specialist: Rheumatologist (MD)

A rheumatologist is a doctor who specializes in the treatment of muscle and skeletal problems, such as lupus, osteoporosis and gout. Rheumatologists work closely with your family doctor to ensure your arthritis treatment is specific and specialized. The American College of Rheumatology provides “professional education” to its members and publishes several journals related to arthritis treatment and the relief from arthritis symptoms.

Gout is Caused by Too Much Uric Acid in the Blood

Gout is a form of arthritis that attacks of sudden pain, stiffness and swollen joints. That gout attacks may continue to return until finally being treated. They are mostly men who suffer from gout; the disease is much less common in women. It is not clear why men especially vulnerable to gout. The attacks bring the joints associated with arthritis and tissue damage, so the symptoms of the disease are going to be worse.

Gout is caused by too much uric acid in the blood. In most cases, having too much uric acid is not harmful, but in specific cases, so that be. But many people with high levels of uric acid in the blood never suffer from gout. When too much uric acid can be hard crystals in the joints and causes that cause the pain.
The chances of gout are increased in case of overweight, drinking too much alcohol or eating lots of meat and fish. Some medicines can cause gout as a side effect also. Most common symptom of gout is a nighttime attack by a swollen big toe, assault involving a sharp pain and reddening of the toe. Such attacks can also emerge in the foot, ankle or knee. They may be a few days to a few weeks before they disappear.

The attacks can come back regularly or they may also disappear. In some cases, months or even years before a new attack occurs. It can not hurt to consult a doctor, even though the pain associated with gout disappeared. The structure of uric acid in the blood can still damage the joints.

First, the regular consumption of organ meats – liver, kidneys, brains and so on – indeed a factor contributing to the prevention of gout. These bodies contain a high content of purine, a substance that is considered partly responsible for gout. But the study showed that diet is not the main responsible for the development of gout should be counted.

Rheumatologist Patience White, who has extensive experience with gout, argues that men and women who want to avoid gout both their weight and their blood pressure and alcholoconsumptie should keep an eye on. George Washington University in Washington, DC White knows what she speaks because she is a doctor at the Arthritis Foundation and professor of pediatrics at the George Washington University in Washington, DC

According to White’s diet may indeed play a role in the story, but there are certainly many more factors that count for. For example, women must realize that their chances of gout after menopause increase. Above Doing noting that women – primarily in the United States – are getting fatter and drinking more alcohol. Therefore take their chance to get gout, though this condition primarily affects men.

How To Get Rid Of Uric Acid In Your Body Naturally

You can get rid of uric acid in your body quite naturally if you know where to look. Here, you’ll discover 3 simple tips to help flush uric acid from your body.

WHAT IS URIC ACID?

It occurs in your body quite naturally. It is produced when ‘purines’ in your body’s cells and in your food breakdown as part of the process that provides you with your energy and protein needs.

Your kidneys process the uric acid, retain a small amount that your body needs and flushes the waste out of your body through your urine with a very little through stools.

HIGH URIC ACID IN YOUR BODY AND GOUT

Sometimes though, either because your kidneys aren’t 100% for some reason, or, your body’s processes are producing too much acid, or, a combination of both, not enough uric acid is being excreted from your body.

Excess acid is then retained and circulated in your bloodstream. This gives you higher-than-normal acid levels in your body. This condition — called hyperuricemia — can cause the deposition of urate crystals in your joints, tendons and surrounding tissue.

This gives rise to the symptoms of gout, i.e. joint stiffness, inflammation, redness, swelling, heat, and excruciating pain.

DANGERS OF RECURRING GOUT

It is well known that, once you have suffered an attack of gout, you are then extremely likely to have more. You need to guard against this because frequent gout attacks over time can give rise to permanent joint damage and various kidney problems such as very painful stones.

HOW TO GET RID OF URIC ACID IN YOUR BODY USING MAINSTREAM TREATMENT

You can use drugs to reduce inflammation, relieve pain and reduce acid levels. Traditional drug-based medications like, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. ibuprofen, naproxen, indomethacin, etc.), colchicines and corticosteroids can work very well to reduce inflammation and relieve pain. And so can drugs like allopurinol and probenecid to reduce your acid levels.

But their pretty serious side effects can put people off. Things like, nausea, vomiting, stomach pains, diarrhea, stomach ulcers, bleeding, bone thinning, lowered immunity against infection, skin allergies, etc. Which is why many gout sufferers turn to natural remedies…

HOW TO GET RID OF URIC ACID IN YOUR BODY USING HOME REMEDIES

There are very many natural home remedies for gout in use, some better than others, and, some that work better for some people but not so well for others. Everybody is different; you have to find what works best for you. But here are 3 natural remedies targeted to get rid of uric acid in your body…

1 – Drink plenty water. Water is the unsung hero of uric acid reduction. It can not only help to prevent urate crystals forming, it helps your kidneys to flush more acid from your body. Drink at least 12 x 8oz glasses a day.

2 – Take Vitamin C regularly. Studies have shown that vitamin c can help reduce acid levels in your blood. So eat plenty fresh fruit everyday, the more the better. Or, you can take vitamin c supplements, especially during an attack.

3 – Herbs such as parsley and alfalfa can help to reduce uric acid. Parsley is a natural diuretic so can help your body to flush excess uric acid out. In addition to its minerals and nutrients, Alfalfa can help to neutralize and reduce high uric acid in the body.

These 3 simple tips can be effective, but they can’t prevent recurring gout on their own. There are many factors to take into consideration; your diet and lifestyle to name but two. And remember the dangers with frequently recurring gout outlined above.

You’re in luck though. There’s a special gout report available online that has all the information you need in one place. It is what thousands of ex-gout victims worldwide have successfully used to prevent their gout returning. It also contains a special 2 hour gout pain relief program.

And it uses fully-researched, totally natural methods. So that you benefit two ways: (1) you get rid of your excruciating pain very fast, and, (2) you prevent your gout returning, so that you reduce the risk of permanent damage.

Gouty Arthritis Demystified – How Does Gout Pain Feel Like?

Are you experiencing some weird pain at your feet? If you do, most probably you are wondering what you have done recently that causes the mysterious pain. If you cannot recall any recent activity that can possibly cause the awful pain, then most probably the pain is a gout attack. If this is the first time you experience it and wondering how does gout pain actually feel like, here is a brief description of it that can help you to confirm if that is really a gout attack.

As a matter of fact, gout pain is beyond imagination! It is so painful until there is no suitable word available to precisely describe that kind of agony caused by the swollen joint. Gout pain is commonly known among those who have ever suffered from it as the worst pain one can experience in life.

The scary part of gout is that it attacks suddenly without any prior warning. The inflammation usually happens in the middle of the night when you are sleeping peacefully. All of a sudden, you wake up with a swollen big toe that sends waves of pain to your brain.

The Pain That Can Make A Grown Up Man Cries

Gout pain is like someone has stuffed some super hot spicy chilli pepper into the affected joint, the feeling is like there is a burning flame of fire trapped within the joint. Beside that burning sensation, you also feel like there are hundreds of sharp needles poking from the inside of the inflamed joint. This combination of excruciating pains makes your want to cry out loud and you hope that burst of tears can help to release the stressful gout pain.

The killing part of the gout pain is that it can last for days or sometimes up to a week or so. A gout attack does not take away your life, but it makes you feel like wanting to die in order to escape from the excruciating pain.

Stay Away From Moving Air

That swollen joint has become so sensitive that even a light blow of cold wind can squeeze the painful tears out from the edge of your eyes. Many gout patients say that they can feel the pulsation of the blood vessels around the inflamed part. Every pulse triggers a wave of torturing gout pain.

Beside the direct pain from the swollen joint, the patient also undergoes some emotional and mental pains due to multiple external factors. When someone is having hard time to stand up and walk, how can he go work under that condition? Even if he can make it to the workplace, his mind will not be able to focus on anything except the awful pain on his feet. When is productivity in the work place drops, he will face the risk of being fired by their bosses.

As long as the gout pain is there, you will constantly live in fears. Fear of losing your job, fear of the side effects of those gout drugs you are forced to take everyday, and fear of this awful pain will become a burden to the family. That is exactly the kind of pain a gout patient has to go through. Gout does not kill, but it will gradually rob away the happiness from your life.
