I’ll make this as short as possible. I was diagnosed with Depression many years ago. Instead of doctors testing my hormones, blood sugar or anything at all, they told me that my depression was genetic and that I didn’t produce something (they didn’t tell me what at the time) and that I’d have to take medicine for the rest of my life. I was after all “like a diabetic who needs insulin”.

That is when the real problems began.

I recall feeling paranoid and crying even more after taking antidepressants than I did before taking them. What did that prove? Hummm that I needed them of course.

Years later after being on antidepressants for so long I reeked of chemicals, and had gained 35 or 40 pounds. Now that I could not sleep anymore nor relax, or feel anything and had my left retina blow out and had holes in my right retina due to the amount of chemicals I had ingested over a decade and a half, I finally found out the answer to WHY I was depressed in the 1st place.

It took watching a health program on Family Net. A show called “Your Health”. At the time the host was Doug Kaufmann.

Doug K. spoke about how long term use of antibiotics can cause IBS, Allergies, and Depression. He gave these illnesses in just that order, and that is exactly my history. Exactly in that order. You see, I had taken antibiotics for acne during my teens and twenties. Lots of them! At 21 or so I was diagnosed with IBS, at 24 or so Allergies, and then at 28 I was diagnosed with Depression.

I’m not sure, but I do believe that I had a combo of things happening to me. I had always had difficult menses and expect that Ive always had hormonal issues, then add the antibiotics which cause yeast overgrowth, and pour toxic chemicals into the blood steam that can affect the brain along with the nutritional deficiency they cause because of the altered bowel flora and I was a mess. Add antidepressant drugs to the mix which cause more hormonal disruptions, and deplete or interfere with the ability to absorb the nutrients from the foods I ate and well you get the picture.

So my advice to anyone suffering from depression is to go to a naturopath who will get to the root cause of your health issues and not just cover them up with drugs.

Coming off antidepressant drugs was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done in my life. And all the while doing it, the doctors were telling me that I needed them and had to take them for the rest of my life. But my life was just about over. It was get off of them or die! So I did it without the help of a doctor. Slowly cutting the pills down over a 6 month period and even that was probably to fast.

I’ve been off antidepressants for 6 years now.

At the 2 year mark I thought I’d surely not make it due to the sleeplessness, pain, electric shocks, jitters and other issues I had from taking antidepressants long term.

That is when I found Vibe by Eniva. I credit it with saving my life. It gave me back the nutrients that had been depleted from my body and it allowed me to carry on and to heal. In addition, had I known to address the hormonal issues at the 2 year mark I believe I could have saved myself a lot of healing time.

For example, with Krista & I, it’s always been my role to make all the food for us, as it just comes naturally to me. As Krista has a natural inclination toward anything technological, she effortlessly enjoys taking care of that department for us. (btw, she does vaguely remember preparing some food for me once or twice here and there, but as she can’t even remember what it was that she might have made, she forgives me for not remembering!) However, she was just telling me earlier today about how she feels she now understands how to make FROM SCRATCH, any signature “Dan” raw food juice, smoothie, salad, dip, dressing or treat, just from watching the videos, even though she hasn’t actually done it yet!

OK, so back to the PAIN! …you could be experiencing it anywhere throughout your body… your feet (gout), your knees, hips, elbows and/or shoulders, or maybe you suffer from headaches, stomach aches and/or acid reflux. No matter where it is: Alkalize! Drink 1-2 green juices a day, plus enjoy whole fruits and simple leafy green salads with low-fat dressings.

Resistance from Others:
Some of you may be experiencing this from others: Your friends may give you a rough time for eating so healthily, or they may be lightly ‘teasing you’ at work (Krista often came home from her old corporate job saying that her colleagues had yet again tried to feed her a cheeseburger!). It of course also doesn’t help that many of your friends, family & peers won’t understand the detoxification symptoms, and so will instead point out that you must be ’sick’ because “you aren’t getting enough protein” or what not.

Instead of meeting them w/ resistance and getting defensive, please try and bite your tongue! Accept that they just won’t ‘get it,’ at this time, no matter what you say, so don’t even start to say anything. As I described in another recent video, simply concentrate on you being a living example of health. When you come out of the initial more intense detox phase you might experience, with you losing X many pounds within just a few weeks, those who are ready to hear you, will come seek you out and ask you questions. Today, those people might still be in the ‘you need to eat a cheeseburger or you are going to die mindset,’ probably for no other reason than to justify their own unhealthy habits. That’s right, they could just be plain ol’ jealous of you right now, so want to subconsciously sabotage your healthy efforts. But don’t take any of that personally! And hopefully neither will they.

Realize that YOU are the one who is SANE, as you actually take care of yourself! You are feeding & nourishing your cells w/ raw living foods from Mother Nature. Whereas they are standing across the room staring at you w/ a smirk on their face as they drink their Venti Starbucks Coffee, as they oddly enough truly believe that YOU might as well be an alien for consuming something so strange as a green juice! …and not— oh my goodness— a coffee, along w/ bacon & eggs!

NEWS FLASH: Somehow this world has everything backwards! If anyone really took the time to pause and reflect for a few moments between what a SAD american diet really IS: e.g., coffee / donut / pastry / eggs / bacon / sausage / pancakes / and/or cereal & milk breakfast, vs. fruits, vegetables, smoothies and juices, then, um…is it not obvious yet??

Just Remember:
~ Take care of yourself!
~ Focus on fruits and vegetables
~ Don’t take any negativity expressed by anyone else personally
~ Continue on the path, get support from this community here, and/or from Krista, me and others on Facebook
~ Remember to exercise
~ Try to get to bed around 10PM
(Krista doesn’t have to follow this rule, haha)
~ Take responsibility to move in a direction of health, because you love and care for yourself!

STROKE AND HEART DISEASE

The number one cause of disability and death among people in the united States is heart disease and stroke. Hypertension is more common among those that are overweight. This condition is one of the major risk factors of heart disease and stroke. Other risk factors of these are triglycerides and increased cholesterol levels which are ociated with obesity.

When you are overweight the heart has to work harder which is a factor in angina and death from a stroke or heart disease. Angina is when the oxygen to the heart is decreased causing a person to experience chest pains. Losing weight will make the heart work better and reduce the risk because the blood pressure and cholesterol levels will decrease along with the fats in the blood stream.

DIABETES:

The most common type of diabetes in the U.S. is Type 2 or non-insulin diabetes. The body has difficulty controlling blood sugar levels with this type of diabetes. There are other things that come with diabetes that are a danger as well. Kidney disease, stroke, blindness and loss of limbs can result from being diabetic. The risk of diabetes is double in those that are overweight. Losing weight can help to keep blood sugar levels under control.

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE OR HYPERTENSION:

Twenty five percent of adults suffer from hypertension. Maintaining a healthy weight, watching fat and calorie intake, and decreasing alcohol intake can help to control hypertension.

CANCER:

Uterine cancers, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, cancer in the gallbladder, breast and colon cancer are at an increased risk with being overweight. Men that are overweight are more prone to the development of prostate, colon and rectal cancer.

SLEEP APNEA:

A dangerous condition ociated with being overweight is sleep apnea. This condition causes a person to stop breathing briefly while they are sleeping. They will also snore a great deal. The more weight you carry, the higher the the risk of sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea can not only cause tiredness or sleepiness during the day but it can cause the heart to fail as well.

OSTEOARTHRITIS:

Extra weight is put on the joints when you are overweight. The cartilage is worn away when the pressure is increased on these joints.

GOUT:

Those that are overweight are at a higher risk of gout which is the buildup of uric acid in the blood.

GALLBLADDER DISEASE:

Gallstones and gallbladder disease are more prominent in those that are obese.

These are just a few of the things that those who are overweight are at risk for. The chances of developing these risks will decrease if you begin to lose the weight. The easiest way to lose weight is by eating properly, increasing your physical activity, and taking a diet pill that is proven to work.
